The Nintendo Direct was yesterday, and a whole host of news fell into our lap. A lot of it wasn’t terribly exciting (it wasn’t one of those must-see ones), but there was a lot of new information for Animal Crossing fans.
Namely, everyone’s favorite yellow-furred secretary has just received her invitation to Smash.
Those of you with good memories will recall that this was actually predicted way back in July earlier this year by famous Redditor Vergeben, who has a history of accurate Smash Brothers predictions, proving it when he predicted both Solid Snake and Simon Belmont. This means he’s at a solid three for three, so we’ll have to keep our eyes open on if there are any more predictions, although we’re quickly running out of time for them.
It’s also worth noting that despite my earlier prediction, Isabelle does not appear to be an echo fighter for The Villager. As seen briefly in the video and as confirmed by the Smash Brothers Official Website, Isabelle is her own character with her own unique moves and abilities, even if they seem quite similar. In that sense, you could probably consider her kinda like a Toon Link.
That said, I’m going to wager most of the people who clicked on that video watched to the end, right? Because after Nintendo announced Isabelle for Smash, they followed up with a Tom Nook-centered teaser for something a lot of people have been very excited about: a new Animal Crossing game for the Nintendo Switch.
We know next to nothing about what it’ll entail, of course, but the good news is that Animal Crossings tend to be the same when you get down to it, so there’s probably not that much speculation needed. Still, good news for the fans, and I look forward to, uh… Smashing with Isabelle?
Nintendo should have probably consulted with Urban Dictionary before doing that.
