Don your detective caps and get ready for an adventure, a new Tintin game is in the works.

Announced online by French game studio Microids, in collaboration with Moulisart, a Tintin action-adventure game is now in development.

Tintin is the titular character of a popular French comic book series, The Adventures of Tintin. In it, a young Belgian reporter and his dog go on a series of adventures, discovering a variety of dramatic secrets. The series has seen mild success in the United States, with English adaptions, a few video games, and a major motion picture.

The last time we saw Tintin in a video game was in 2011, releasing alongside the aforementioned film. It featured a 3D action-adventure setting based on The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. Critical reception of the game was underwhelming, getting an average 6/10 score. Unsurprisingly, the online servers for the game shut down five years later.

There's little to no information about what this upcoming game will be like. The press release confirms that Haddock, Professor Calculus, and detectives Thomson & Thompson will make an appearance. Otherwise, they essentially ask us to be patient while more information is revealed.

Microids are based in Paris, France. And as such, they have a small history with producing and publishing  French media, They published an Asterix & Obelix game in 2018, for example. It's not clear if they will be producing the Tintin game or just publishing it. In which case, the developer remains unnamed.

Either way, stay tuned. More information about the game will be released soon enough.
