When you look for gaming swag, there are a lot of obvious choices. Clothing? Usually the first thing people get. Posters? Look good on empty walls. Figurines and statues? Expensive, but can make a desk look classy and/or super cringe. Art books are excellent for every coffee table, and soundtracks can give you something to listen to at the gym or on the bus.
But recently, there’s been an influx of video game cookbooks. We’ve had a World of Warcraft cookbook, an Overwatch cookbook, an Elder Scrolls and Fallout-themed cookbooks, even a fan-made Earthbound cookbook… some developers just really want to spice up their IP with some literal spices.
And the latest game to get its own food-based swag would be Destiny. Does it make sense? No. But it’s what we’re getting, according to this Amazon blurb:
"Explore recipes inspired by Bungie’s hit franchise in Destiny: The Official Cookbook. Based on Bungie’s acclaimed video game series Destiny, this official cookbook is filled with recipes inspired by the Guardians and locations seen throughout the game’s expansive universe.
Eva Levante has traveled around the world after the events of the Red War, gathering a variety of recipes after crossing paths with many Guardians along the way and learning from their adventures. Craft, mouthwatering food from her diverse list of recipes inspired by the game’s unique world, plus step-by-step instructions and full-color photos, help guide and inspire fans to go on their own culinary adventure through the solar system.
Perfect for all Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks, Destiny: The Official Cookbook is packed with amazing recipes and stories that celebrate Destiny’s vast multiplayer universe."
…sure, ok. Why the hell not. Destiny-inspired food, which will be a great main course before you try the extremely similar yet somehow blander Anthem-themed dishes across the street. If you want to get this as a joke or something, it comes out on August 4th of 2020, and you can preorder it for 35 bucks.
There are technically worse ways to spend your money.
