More trouble in China as a story similar to the man who starved himself over a broken keyboard, 19 year old Chinese boy Xiao Zhou threatened to kill himself unless his father gave him the money to buy equipment for his character in an unnamed online game although I'm fairly sure we can imagine it begins with a W. The cost of said items came out to 6,000 yuan (about $1,000). They were priced at about three times what the boy's father, a sanitation worker, actually makes in a month!

That, however, was not on the mind of Xiao Zhou when he climbed to the top of a second-story platform above his family's home and threatened to jump because his father was unable to come up with the cash. Zhou was reported to have said...

"You don't give me money, I'm not coming down from here today!"

Zhou's father managed to scrounge up 2,000 yuan, but his son was not satisfied. Out of fear for Xiao's life, public security, firefighters, and neighbors all chipped in together to raise the remaining money. Zhou's father allegedly showed his son the money, at which point the grown man who threatened suicide over a video game was finally satisfied. Onlookers were allegedly appalled by the flagrant indifference Xiao showed to his father's struggle.
