4X Strategy Games are niche-that much is true. But they do seem to be growing in this modern age of gaming. Wastelands Interactive recently announced that its new sci-fi strategy game, Planar Conquest, will be launching on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in the second quarter of 2016.

This title is actually a reimagined version of Worlds of Magic, which was a Kickstarter title released last year. Unfortunately, it launched to mixed reviews on Steam (52/100 on Metacritic), suffering from a lot of flaws. According to CEO Leszek Lisowski:

"We know that Worlds of Magic had lots of issues. We fixed many of them in subsequent updates, but we've eventually realized that if we want to unleash the full potential of our 4X project, we need to overhaul it and relaunch it. That's how Planar Conquest was born. The game will not only feature new UI, enhanced AI and revamped graphics, but also will be expanded with cross-platform multiplayer, intuitive map editor, and more. Best of all, Planar Conquest will be free to everyone who already owns Worlds of Magic."

For those that want to check out the game now, it just so happens that Wastelands Interactive has partnered with the mobile division of Techland and has ported Planar Conquest to the iOS. The mobile version is apparently a streamlined but fully-featured strategy title that expects to be growing over the year. You can purchase Planar Conquest right now on the iOS for $12.99.
