3D Realms Announces January 29 Release Date for Action-RPG Shooter Bombshell

Hopefully this game will be "da bomb." Yea, I totally went there.

3D Realms (known for Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, Shadow Warrior, Duke Nukem, and more) is back with Interceptor Entertainment (known for the 2013 remake of Rise of the Triad) to announce the final details, including the release date, for their upcoming Action-RPG shooter Bombshell.

This game looks incredibly badass (though perhaps a bit too sci-fi for me), and it's definitely worth a look at the very least. But the real question is, when is the release date? Well, expect the game to launch on Steam January 29, 2016.

For those really interested in more than just the standard game (which is only $34.99, by the way), there will be a Deluxe Edition Available, for a price of $39.99.

According to 3D Realms CEO Mike Nielsen:

"We wanted to pack as much value for players into our Digital Deluxe edition as we possibly could. For a few extra bucks, you're getting a bad-ass soundtrack, a hi-res digital art book, BETA access to a nostalgia-inducing Bombshell FPS Prequel game, and more."

Seems like a good deal for 40 bucks, doesn't it?

Bombshell will be released worldwide on Windows PC via Steam and GOG.com on January 29, 2016, but if you're curious about a console release, than you should be pleased to know that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the title are in development, on track for a 2016 release date.

Finally, here's a little bit more info on the prequel, which is separate from 'Bombshell':

Basically, the prequel is a backstory relating to the totally badass-looking Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison, who lost her arm, squad, and reputation against antagonist Professor Jadus Heskel. This title is built with the '90s era Build Engine--the same one used for Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior. To top it all off, multiplayer will be accessible, bringing about an old-school competitive feel.

Sounds good? Well unfortunately, there is no exact release date for this except some time in 2016. Ah well, at least fans will be able to enjoy 'Bombshell.'
