3D Printable, Customizable Tabletop Game NecroVirus Aims for Kickstarter Success

A cool idea with boundless possibilities, if I do say so myself.

Besides talking about weird happenstances with gaming and pants, today we are going to touch upon a topic that's not very video-gamey. In fact, it's more align with board game-y. A Kickstarter Staff Pick, NecroVirus is a customized, competitive board game built on the BoardCraft portal that allows you to build, print, and play 2D or 3D games.

So let's pique that curiosity of yours! After all, this project seems to be a really cool idea, even for non-tabletop gamers (like myself).

First of all, there are three different components to the Kickstarter:

NecroVirus: An apocalyptic 3D zombie game with buildings, vehicles, miniatures, and mission cards that are customizable and printable.

BoardCraft: User-friendly software and flexible tabletop system that can be used to create, modify, or print any type of board game via home or 3D printer.

Theme Tilesets: A variety of 3D tilesets to support different games and genres, all of which are compatible with BoardCraft. There are dungeon tiles for fantasy role-playing and--soon--terrain for miniature games, sci-fi settings, naval settings, and much more.

Okay, let's talk a bit more about NecroVirus. This is the developer's flagship title and first BoardCraft compatible game. For two to four players, this game sticks with the zombie lore you know and love, focusing on survival through an apocalypse stuffed with nightmares. This game requires strategic planning, steal, and resource management, so any one misstep could lead to a horrible ending.

As for features:
  • If you're bitten, you're bitten. You're done. One bite and you struck out, slugger. How long can you last before you're bitten? Furthermore, how long will it be before your friends slaughter you?
  • NecroVirus has a detection system that encourages steal and careful play, with the ability to dart from building to building in search of rest, supplies or mission objectives. So try not to be caught, though sooner or later, it's inevitable.
  • In NecroVirus, every bullet, ration, fuel, and materials will count. Treat them as precious sources, because they are the line between life and death.
  • You can customize your secure connect board layout for every game. You want a map with wide-open streets? Go for it. Want to make your life a living hell by stuffing in obstacles and dark alleyways? By all means! There will be 20 buildings to work with and plenty of tiles.
  • BoardCraft will also help you stretch your imagination. You are able to tweak NecroVirus however you'd like and modify it to your fitting.
  • NecroVirus can also print on demand, whether via home printer or 3D printer. Of course, down the line, there will be upgrades to enhance or supersize the experience.
  • You can design new missions, new cards, and mix and match your zombie game with new settings!
  • Share your creations with the community and finally, choose from the a la carte menu to expand and upgrade your playland!
Interesting prospect, no?

Well if grabs your attention like grabbing a bull by the horns, you should definitely back the campaign. With only 53 hours to go, there is only $26,747 raised, but miracles have happened before. So let's hope this succeeds! To learn more about the campaign, which includes perks and rewards, head on over to this here Kickstarter page.
