Though the release window was announced during the presentation as Holiday 2020, it turns out that, just a little over a month later, the release won't happen then.
According to a 343 Industries tweet posted August 11:
Today I want to share an important Halo Infinite development update with the community. We have made the difficult decision to shift our release to 2021 to ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo game experience that meets our vision.
The message goes on to cite COVID-related impacts and other development challenges as the reasons for the delay.
Personally, I'm okay with it. Though it won't be a launch title for the Xbox Series X, it will receive the polish and enhancements it deserves. 343 Industries has had a reputation for tripping when carrying Bungie's torch, so hopefully, they can finally make a title that meets not only their vision but Halo fans' expectations.
So look forward to Halo Infinite, coming to Xbox Series X and PC in 2021.
