Truth be told, on a personal standpoint, not many indie games have soundtracks that are eargasmic. Perhaps it has to do with the budget, and that's quite alright. For me, as long as the music doesn't deter from the overall experience of a game, I can play through the title without issue.
But it's extremely rare for an indie title to feature a track that sounds so damn amazing that I not only receive goosebumps, but the heavy inclination to purchase said game. Today, one game's trailer has accomplished just that.
An adventure brought to you by Outsider Games, Wailing Heights is musical glory set in a hamlet featuring all sorts of unexpected types of typical monsters: vegan werewolves, hipster vampires, gossiping ghosts, and, of course, motown zombies.
You're in the faded shoes of Frances Finklestein, the former manager of the greatest '60s rock and roll band "the world has ever loved and lost." Unfortunately, where you begin is within the Wailing Heights' prison, thanks to a so-called booking mix-up. Yet, luck has turned for the better when a cell-mate offers the key to leave the prison, but this "key" actually involves "body-hopping," the process of ditching your body in order to "possess" other bodies.
With this newfound ability, Frances must try to find a way to break out his corpse from the cell and get him Wailing Heights for good.
This game will be officially showcased with a playable demo at EGX, held from September 24-27, 2015 at Birmingham. Seriously, check out the trailer. You won't regret it, and you'll be doing your ears a huge, relaxing favor.
Wailing Heights is set for release on PC in early 2016. Of course, if you want to follow the game and what it's up to, you can always check out the main website.
