Chris Burke recently passed along a video that got my attention regarding Net Neutraility, you know the hot topic that seems to always get everyone riled up?  Especially after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia tossed out the Open Internet rules (Which was the idea that ISPs couldnt slow down or block legal content from any site or service.) back in January after a challenge by Verizon, which argued that the FCC lacked the regulatory authority to regulate ISPs in this fashion, essentially gutting Net neutrality.

And in the most recent gut check, the FCC voted to approve the proposal that would let broadband providers have the ability to charge content companies such as Netflix, Xbox Live and the like for faster access to so-called "fast lanes" through their pipes and into everyones home. So they basically created a "pay to play" (Sound familiar?) type of system that could stifle growth and innovation!

This has obviously caused a bit of outrage, especially in the gaming community which might get hit the most due to our large use of bandwidth.  So onto the video sent over... It was created to provide a simple illustration of what our potential future might look like and it was done in a neat way with characters from Team Fortress 2.  Check it out below along with its description...

Time is running out to support Net Neutrality, the concept that has fostered so much diversity and innovation on the internet since it's inception. Please sign the petition at the link below and call your representatives. This is a big one.

Reclassify the internet as a public utility like water - equally accessible to all.

This video is a joint production of two machinima old timers, Chris Burke ("This Spartan Life") and Frank Dellario (Pixel Valley Studio, formally of the ILL Clan).

So what now? As stated above, time is short as there is only a 3 month window to challenge the new ruling so head over to https://www.NoSlowLane.com and sign the petition!
