Project X Zone 2 Piles on a Heap of Fan Favorites This Fall

And who would you like to see in this?

The original 3DS-exclusive Project X Zone has been a complete miss for me, but overall, it has garned mixed reactions from others. I remember even picking up the game, all excited to meet my favorite characters, but my excitement deflated as the game failed my expectations, even after 30 hours of gameplay. To me, the game lacked depth, and the battle system became highly repetitive.

Hopefully, these (possible) personal issues will be rectified with the up-coming Project X Zone 2, set for the 3DS sometime this Fall for North America and Europe.

Sega, Capcom, and Bandai Namco have officially bro-fisted to create a new fan-mash of super cool characters from a seemingly broader selection of games, including Yakuza, Virtua Fighter, Sakura Wars, and Tales of Vesperia.

Here's some of the confirmed characters for the game thus far:

Sega Division
  • Sakura Wars - Erica Fontaine and Ichiro Ogami
  • Shinobi (PS2) - Hotsuma
  • Virtual Fighter - Akira Yuki and Kage
  • Yakuza: Dead Souls - Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima
Capcom Division
  • Devil May Cry - Dante and Virgil
  • Mega Man X - X and Zero
  • Resident Evil 6 - Leon
  • Resident Evil: Revelaitons - Chris and Jill
  • Strider - Strider
Bandai Namco Division
  • .hack - Kite
  • .hack//G.U. - Haseo
  • Soulcalibur V - Natsu
  • Tales of Vesperia - Yuri Lowell and Flynn Scifo
  • Tekken - Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima
The X Zone 2's roster definitely seems to include more unique characters than the roster from the previous game, and truth be told, Strider and Revelaiton's (yes, intentional if you've missed it before) Jill could very well sell this game for me.

After all, it does look a lot better than the original game, with hopefully expanded gameplay mechanics and deeper storyline to boot.

Here's the trailer for those that somehow missed the announcement:
