Unfortunately, video games and platforms all come and go with each generation that is introduced. It's the way of life. They could be the new kid on the block, gathering favor from fans all over the world, then suddenly they could drift along the sidewalk, drunk and wondering what they could have done to maintain the popularity. The only consoles capable of prolonging the inevitability of fading are the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The Nintendo 3DS XL, sadly, will suffer the fate, despite its popular status as it tops sales charts in Japan. Apparently, Nintendo feels that it is time for the handheld to be discontinued on its shores of its origin. All seven colors of the XL will no longer be in Japan soon. Despite the 3DS XL being discontinued in the country, the original 3DS will still be in production until further notice. More than likely, this handheld is being phased out so the company can push the sales of the New 3DS. Currently, there are no plans to remove the 3DS XL from North America or Europe, but then again the New 3DS has not been released yet. Do you think it is a smart plan for Nintendo to discontinue the XL in Japan soon? Or should the removal wait just a little longer?
