Batmobile Edition of Batman: Arkham Knight Cancelled at Retailers

A bit of a low blow, if you ask me.

We mentioned the Batmobile Edition of Batman: Arkham Knight awhile ago within the article featuring The Serious Edition. It contained a mini Batmobile and lots of other goods, and boy was it expensive. Unfortunately, the edition sold out quickly. Sounds like those that managed to pre-order are lucky, right?

Wrong.

A bit of a backhand across the face, especially almost five days before release, a NeoGAF user received this e-mail from the UK retailer GAME:

Dear __________:

Regrettably, due to unforeseen circumstances that greatly compromised the quality of the Batmobile, included within the Batman Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition, Warner Bros has decided not to release this product.

As a gesture of goodwill, you will be entitled to a £20 discount on the Batman Red Hood Edition, featuring extra content only available at GAME. If you want to proceed with this offer it will update automatically, you do not need to do anything. If you wish to cancel your complete order, please contact customer services on 0208 827 0099 or email us at customer.services@game.co.uk by 11am on 23rd June.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

This action hasn't just affected GAME, but also GameStop. It is still unavailable at Amazon, but I doubt it was available in the first place there. Overall, it's unfortunate news, and I doubt that people will be thrilled at GAME for the Red Hood replacement. Even more unfortunate, the Limited Editions of Arkham Knight are sold out, so despite the act of apology, it has become almost a lose-lose situation for those wanting any special edition.

Let's just hope that these once-hopeful owners won't be forever scorned by Rocksteady.
